"Over my many years of developing and building enterprises, I have been fortunate to cross paths and interact with some brilliant people and have learnt a lot from all of them."
AIFB is a first generation entrepreneur’s thought leader approach to address the vacuum that is in the market for an exclusive research driven institute dedicated to the cause of advocacy and education in the ‘Family Business’ and Entrepreneurship sphere focused on enabling the transition of family firms from startup to fledgling and then to corporate levels by fostering a deep understanding of the nature and potential of the fast changing technology and the qualitative shift the firms need to make for successful transition from one stage to the other. Hence the programs and all other activities of AIFB are being designed to provide entrepreneurs and owner-managers, spanning across generations and businesses, the benefit of efficient technology management and sharing a common platform, where businesses in various stages of their lifecycle – embryonic to growth to maturity - to share their experiential learning backed by research driven data that provides veracity, fortifies and concretises their intuitive mental models and decision making strategies.
Unlike normal management education, AIFB, at its core, recognises the need for technology focused entrepreneurship and involvement with ‘entrepreneurs’ in innovative and distinctly different ways. It also understands the need of the entrepreneurs and family business owners to have neutral and non-threat forums which can not only help in exchanging ideas but more importantly can also give a peer voice to an entrepreneur who is in most cases lead lonely corporate lives, unable to vent their concerns, apprehensions, dilemmas and disillusionments with even close family members let alone their employees. By deeply believing that through comparison we understand each other – our strengths and weaknesses – better, AIFB will extensively use a comparative analysis framework in its pedagogy and research. It will undertake research projects to conduct comparative analysis of family firms operating in different regions, countries, sectors, communities, technology segments and so on. AIFB will gradually launch more and more programs based on these research findings.
